Red nucleus is a structure of the midbrain tegmentum involved in motor movements. It is really small and little is known about its function. Because many fibers or tracts run through it, damages to these tracts affect the red nucleus as well. It is not the same as cordate or caudate nucleus, but sometimes it is also called the ruber nucleus.
