Re: switching from moclobemide to Parnate

Joanna, I tried Moclobemide once. Bad reaction on first dose, so abondoned quickly. But I had done lots of research on it. One reason I chose it was because of the short washout period if anything went wrong. SSRIs can be started just two days after stopping Moclobemide. I'm not sure about Parnate, but to be safe I would wait a week and then approach Parnate cautiously with as low a dose as possible, maybe every other day instead of daily for a few days, just to feel it out and be safe. Hopefully someone else here can help more, but as I understand it, Moclobemide's washout period is very short. As a sidenote, the Canadian doctor I saw was real good, and he said he augments Moclobemide with low doses of about every AD out there (except other MAOIs). Hope it all goes well for you. JohnL.
