Neurontin calms the nerves and has a side effect of grogginess so can assist sleep, but I don't know what dose it would take to actually help you sleep. I take a very low dose (300mg) at night. Possibly it may assist sleep but it does not act as a sleep inducer for me. If I have trouble sleeping, the Neurontin doesn't help me sleep so I take a small amount of Xanax. This is only once in awhile so I don't feel badly about using it as a sleeping pill. The Xanax helps put me to sleep for the night in a very short time. So unless it's a high dose, I guess I wouldn't look to Neurontin specifically to help you sleep. If you try it, though, good luck.
