My doctor sent me to a psychopharmacologist who suggested using the dose of trazadone that I could tolerate and augmenting it with another low-dose SSRI. I'm currently trying a combo of trazadone and serzone (I have problems with sleep, so the sedating effects are good for me if I take them at night).

We tried decreasing the dose but the depression returned so bumped it back to the effective dose, 225mg per day. It occurs all hours of the day and just soaks her clothes and sheets. She says it wouldn't be so bad but it is now causing an increase in some of her lab values related to her kidneys (BUN) and her family doctor wants her to try to come off it. She's drinking a lot of fluid without any change in her labs. I haven't had any other patients with that side effect and the company rep doesn't have any information that could help her. Has anybody had this side effect and was there anything that helped or did you have to stop the medication altogether? Thanks.

Hi, I just stopped taking Effexor xr today. I did experience a lot of sweating at night time while on it. I was up to 225 mg, which my doctor told me was the maximum dosage and I was still experiencing depression, so I stopped taking it and just started serzone today. In terms of side-effects, the Effexor was really good, the only bad thing was the sweating, but that only happened at bed time so it was pretty tolerable. I hope I didn't go off of it too soon.
