effexor withdrawl

Posted by franksmycat on September 30, 2006, at 13:01:50

I didn't intentionally go off effexor. It's a matter of money. I didn't have any and so couldn't get my refill until I got some. I called in the prescription refill 2 days ago. I take Effexor XR 300 mg/day. That's alot of med. I've been taking it for years-too afraid to go off of it because of the withdrawl AND afraid my depression will return if I'm off. I haven't taken any for 4 days now, and for 2 days before that I took 1/2 dose. I'm weepy, fuzzy headed, having crazy vivid dreams, dizzy, diahrrea, nauseated, on and on.... The mail order pharmacy said they mailed it to me yesterday. If it doesn't come today (Saturday)I'm afraid I'll flip out. My poor house-guest (that's a roommate that doesn't pay rent - lol) is really taking the brunt of my anger. I hit him in my sleep last night while I was dreaming about fighting with my sister. I also dreamed the night b4 last that I cut my cat Frank's head off in a fit of anger, than sewed it back on! Just venting here. Frank's OK.

I am really sorry you got stuck.

You can try taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help with the withdrawal symptoms. It really works for some people, but it can make you drowsy, so I don't know how it would be for you at work.

Did you plan on discontinuing Effexor any time soon?

Has it worked well for you?
