In an attempt to remind myself that life is good…
1. My son, who when he blew an eyelash off his finger, wished for, “tulips in my house”. I bought him some, and he couldn’t have been more in awe of them. He told me they were beautiful. I tend to agree.
2. My husband, who is coming around to the idea of paying out-of-pocket for an extra therapy session each week for me.
3. My job is good – nice boss, interesting work, and nice co-workers.
4. My son’s best friend and his parents. We’ve started trading days to leave our sons with each other so we can have a date night. We’re making fast friends with them, as well.
5. I got quite a few things accomplished around the house yesterday while my husband brought our son to his first Cubs game.
6. It’s spring and I love, love, love when the weather is nice enough for my T to open the window and I can hear city noise. (Is that strange?)
7. I’m sticking to my diet.
8. Wearing sandals after getting a nice pedicure.
9. My son (again – thanks for indulging me). When I gave him a choice of three different pairs of new socks, he looked at them and looked at them. I could see smoke coming from his head until he said, “but Mommy, they’re all saying, ‘pick me, pick me!’” He then decided on a pair, but reassured the others he would wear them next.
10. Babble friends.

I remember my first Cubs game, Laurie. Those bright blue caps and white pinspriped home uniforms (they wore pinstripes back then). Ernie Banks was a god to me. He hit a homer out on Waveland Avenue. I was really lucky to get a compass in my Cracker Jacks. I still have it. It still points the way to things that are really important, like a little boy spending a day at Wrigley Field with his dad.

> TophHi, Toph!
I think a little one's first trip to Wrigley Field is always an event to remember. I bought him a Cubs hat and he was so excited that he slept with it the night before. Then, he made friends with a little boy next to him who had cotton candy. When he offered some to N, he said, "no thanks" and explained to his dad that he was too excited to eat. (He did this on his first visit to Comiskey, as well.)
My aunt used to bring me to games all the time. She taught me how to keep score and what a "real" hot dog is. She is the biggest Cubs fan I know. She just turned 67 and applied to be an usher at the park. She got the job! The day she found out, she couldn't even sit down she was so excited. I'm happy for her. She's going to have a blast this summer. (I'm just a little afraid she might get testy with some of the opposing fans. ;))
I'm still having a difficult time explaining to my son that since I gave birth to him, he should be a Cubs fan only. I guess his dad has too much influence. At least, for now, he's decided he's both a Cubs fan and a White Sox fan. Seems there's still time to teach him the "right" way. ;)
Now that I've rambled, I hope you're doing well, Toph. You got a 10 for us?
Laurie

1) Just returned from a fly fishing trip in Kentucky with my 83-year old father.
2) We both caught some nice Rainbows and Browns despite the Army Corps of Engineers opening the dam after the tornados blew through.
3) We managed to find a huge boulder to hunker down under as the storm passed.
4) My 83-year old father is planning our next trip. At his age, I will probably be planning my next bowel movement.
5) My wife really missed me while I was gone.
6) The "Marley and Me" book I bought for her was a big hit (better than if I had bought her a Kentucky Derby t-shirt like I almost did). I started it on the plane and it is really good.
7) My kids are all doing well as they finish up college.
8) Greg Maddox is pitching as well as my father fishes despite their respective ages.
9) Lithium still works like a charm.
10) See Laurie's #10.
This is the end of the thread.
