Stupider

Posted by All Done on April 7, 2006, at 2:50:53

It's not a word, is it? Or am I just being the stupidest one by thinking it isn't?

And BTW, it really bothers me that ain't is in the dictionary.

Between this stuff and socks, these are the things that keep me awake at night.

If Stupider doesn't exist, we'll have to invent it » All Done

It really should...

Besides, I make up words all the time, and my husband and I collect non-words from TV -- you'd be surprised how many normal looking people actually say "conversate" on camera. Great fun.

No, what keeps me up at night tends much more towards, you know, "I wonder why it's called 'duct tape,' when you can't use it on ducts?" You know -- the truly important things...

Duct Tape was believe it or not, originally called Duck tape. The story is kind of backward. Or seems that way.
I can't remember why it was called that exactly, but it's something to do with the army.. when they needed something durable and waterproof to fix helmets they nicknamed it Ducktape. Maybe because it was waterproof?

Much later when the type of tape being produced was much more sophisticated, it was actually used in air Conditioning ducts. Not the kind of tape that most people refer to as "Duct" tape, that you can buy anywhere.
There are certain standards that it has to meet to be official ductfixing "duct" tape.
But there you go.
Well That's what I was told by my uncle, and he's usually pretty accurate.

it's still duck tape to me ;o) » gabbi~1

I think I've seen a brand of it actually called "Duck" tape. It had a mallard on the label.
