I'm praying for his safety and a peaceful outcome. What a risky and honorable job. I think I'd feel proud yet scared.

Thinking of you, too.

According to the news everyone in all of the surrounding neigborhoods is being held hostage as this guy is still in the house where he shot the serial rapist and holding his brother hostage and through interviews no one is allowed to leave their house and drive anywhere. And the school buses can't go into any of the neighborhoods so the kids can't go home either. They are advising parents who have been working to pick up their kids but none of them can go home. It's still going on. And this is a neighborhood with huge houses in a very good part of town. The Swat team is there there including wildcards brother. And the guy was shot in the head but will live. right now you don't want to be in Charlotte NC. Love Phillipa

I just got home a little while ago, and just saw this thread. I'm glad that everyone will be OK, especially your brother.

Though I disagree with many of the lesons I learned as a child, one that my father instilled in all of us was to have respect for the police, and to be thankfull of the service that they give to the communities. It's not always a safe job, and they often aren't thanked enough for what they do. Usually, it's only the bad ones who make headlines and the good ones are taken for granted.

Please let your brother know that there are people out there who appreciate him. I'm certain this was a tense situation for him, and I'm certain that he had moments of deep concern for his team-mate.

I'm glad too, for you, that everything worked out well in the end. Having a brother who is a police officer must be trying at times. I've heard that marriages with police officers are often difficult. It must be just as hard being a sibling, and even more so knowing he's in a high-risk aspect of that profession.

You'll both be in my prayers tonight.

I'm glad it's over and okay. You must be exhausted.

And I want to add my thank you to your brother. Thanks Dee, for including this. It's very thoughtful.

Those poor people and their kids couldn't leave or go home for over seven hours. Love Phillipa
