I have been a casual smoker. Smoking at parties or when stressed but, have'nt smoked at all for 3 years. This time it seems to be sticking. I am in my 30's how stupid is it to start now? I have also picked up drincking copious amounts of coffee (the fatning kinds french vanilla ect.)

Whoah, step away from the pack. No, I start up again sometimes, the first time I start coughing in the shower, I stop again. A pack here or there isn't the end of the world. I don't condone regular habit though. Like you asked me. sorry , rambling.

Hey, No offense taken, you can state your opinion anytime. I may be delicate but not that delacate (jk). Is'nt it crazy to start now AGAIN. I have never really been a heavy smoker, I think the most I ever smoked regularly would be 2-3 smokes a day. You know just enough to keep the lungs unhealthy. Lots of stress right now, that my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Best wishes
Laura

Please don't start smoking again. It's too hard to stop and one or two lead to more just my personal experience. Fondly, Phillipa

Phillipa,
Are you still smoking right now? It's hard to play the self denial card on the health issues it causes when your a nurse. I just find it relaxing when nothing else is working! Ismoke so little I like the light headed feeling it gives me, and I know eventually it's going to take more and more to keep that light headed feeling. I know I am still in denial over it cause I'm gonna make one more excuse, it is also one of the lesser destructive coping mechanisms.
All my best,
Laura

I started as a casual smoker and it became a 15 year habit. I quit about a year and a half ago. I wish I could convey how unbelievebly hard it is once you're smoking hard core. The longer you continue, the harder it is to quit. But there's no way to transfer those feelings into someone elses head (but wouldn't it be cool if you could?).
I still want a cigarette right now.
