What was that movie rental by mail service again?
Does anyone know of good game rentals or books on tapes rental services by mail?
Most of the local rental services are still down and my son is getting antsy.

As far as movies...Netflix has been wonderful for me. Reliable, movies rarely unavailable (happened 2 times in 2 years), they arrive in 2 days (for me, anyway - big distro. center in St. Louis, close by), website well designed and always working properly, great customer service....etc.
(Huh, maybe I ought to go to work doing PR for them!)
But really, 2 years and I swear by them. Flexible plans to choose from, depending on how much you want to pay and # of movies you'd like to have at home at any one time. And, the coolest thing I recall, last year, they sent people with a certain membership level an email saying because they were doing so well, they were *lowering* our monthly fee!! And they did, by I think, two or three dollars. Since when does THAT ever happen?!
Of course, I love that the most I ever have to do is walk to my mailbox to get or return a movie. this can be (and has been) done in a bathrobe, BTW! :-)
They don't have games or books on tape, though. Not anywhere I can discover, anyway.
Blockbuster now has online service, too. I've never explored their options, given my love affair with Netflix ;-)

That *is* a ringing endorsement. They should send you a commission!
I'll look them up right away. I'm pretty sure there was something at Best Buy about a games rental service. So that would just leave books on tape. I can't seem to find what he likes for my iPod.

Boy do I feel stupid didn't even know there were online movie rental services. Oh well everything else is on the internet. Soon we won't need to leave our houses for anything. Now they even have internet grocery shopping. Will there be real people anymore? Fondly , Phillipa

Well the others beat me to it, but yup it's Netflix that I use. I've had good service, but they rely on local distribution centers, so let's hope they're delivering well in your area.
Up til recently I'd gotten every movie I wanted right away, but both "The Constant Gardener" and "Hustle and Flow" have both been on "Long Wait" status for weeks, and I finally gave up and rented them at blockbuster. That's my only complaint. Oh, and they don't have "My So-Called Life" series at all. Oh, and when I got "Unforgiven" it was the crappy old fullscreen mode and not the better re-release. Oh, and they don't send you the 2nd disc in all the movies that have a 2nd disc with extra features. OK I guess I have quite a few complaints there, but overall it's better than the weekly or 2x weekly trips to the blockbuster store.
I read a bunch of bad stuff about how Netflix starts slow-rolling your deliveries if you watch more than 12 a month. For that reason I'm kind of self-limiting my consumption, and still going to BB store sometimes.
This is the end of the thread.
