Are you advocating violating the rules; or are you insinuating that I have already done so?

JYL:
Oh my God! I feel so bad and apologize for my insentive words. Of course I didn't think the person they were about would actually read them! I thought it was some random person that Phillipa knows who was trying to put her down. But that's with it taken out of context! I'm sure you weren't trying to be offensive or anything like that. Please don't feel bad JYL. Like Lynn said, if we had known it was you, we would not have reacted the way we did. Please don't feel bad about this. Babblemail me. You can tell me I need a dictionary because I can't spell. Oh, and that I babble on like an idiot sometimes. I'm sure there's more.Phillipa:
You shouldn't feel bad either. Your question had no ill intent, things went arry like they do in a chatroom. See, I can't even spell 'arry'.-T

>> I don't beleive it! Talk about mole-hills to mountains ! lol (don't mean to offend the mole or the mountain)Who else would be aware of the term "Fondly" EXCEPT a fellow Babbler. Besides, we were asking opinions about it's meaning, we were not personally attacking Anyone. Does it matter who said what to form an opinion
It DOES matter who said what to form an opinion. The written word without any tone or facial expressions is extremely ambiguous. Knowing who said it would have completely changed the meaning.
>I hate to think the politics are so bad that we have to dance on egg shells. I am definetly going to "lurk" for my own saftey because wishy-washy fence sitters can jump either way. Be strong and stand behind your opinion or don't say something you don't mean. Poor Phillipa, being in such good company just to be turned on totally unnecessarily. Hey, at least she got some activity going!
We are here to support each other, if that means we're dancing on eggshells, so be it. Its not politics, its caring about your fellow man. And its just the right thing to do.
Just to set the record straight, nobody turned on Phillipa. She posed an entirely innocent question and we all jumped to conclusions that this was someone attacking her. But knowing it was JYL changes the meaning. Its so easy to get all messed up like this in this environment.
I hope Phillpa and JYL both feel better about this and know neither was at fault. Its just the nature of the beast, chatrooms in this instance.

My better judgement tells me to stay under this rock, but since some of us like to beat a d*#d horse(or me) let me pose a couple of questions and pretend you don't know who is asking them.
Do you beleive in capital punishment?
If someone broke into your house, would you shoot or say "who's there"?
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite food?Just playing d#*+#s advocate. Do your answers change depending on circumstances?
I am not trying to put anyone down,or trying to make them feel less than normal, just illustrating my point to which I made my statement. Now, can we DROP IT? Damage done, apologized, kissed and made-up

Please? Phillipa is hurting, JYL is hurting and so are others. That is not why we are here is it? I hope not. This was never meant to hurt anyone but it did. I wish i could change it but i can't. Again i apologise to you JYL for getting all self righteous and b*tchy. Phillipa is a close friend of mine but that is no excuse to jump on anyone else. You were hurting too. Can we all just pull together and make this better? I'll start. I am starting a new thread to say something good about Phillipa and JYL. It's a little start but ya gotta start somewhere.

obviously i don't get here enough ;-)
personal criticism can be hard to take. a little while back clearskies offered some personal criticism of my posting style and... i felt offended, yes.
and i reached out to other babblers for support and validation because the criticism actually hurt me and i felt very self-conscious indeed about my posting style.
but... after a day or two i was able to see that she didn't intend to hurt me.
i think...
what happened here is similar to what happens in other places too... one person is hurting and we think that to support them we too have to rail against their alleged 'persecuter'
the trouble comes when we know their alleged 'persecuter' and are we really forced to take sides?
hmm.
only in high school i would have thought...

Please keep in mind that we were all responding based solely on the limited information we had. I certainly don't know what you actually wrote, although it seems clear that Phillipa was upset by it. Based on what I did know at the time, I think my post was entirely appropriate.

For the record, I can't think of a reliable way to differentiate between two people using one computer (or Internet connection) and one person using two names:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#computer
So I should've said something like:
Please don't post under more than one name at the same time -- or use someone else's computer or Internet connection.
Sorry about that,
Bob

was pondering some more...phillipa, i don't want to upset you either somehow by my response to jyl..i really don't want to be in the middle of this, so i hope that phillipa and jyl, yáll can work this out. this is between you guys...so yáll don't hold any hard feelings toward us babblers here okay. we're just along for the ride..and trying to help. i mean, what can we do in a situation like this? it's kind of hard to not hurt someone..so i'm trying my best.
love to both of yáll.
it'll be all right. (i'm sorry i'm so late replying to this thread, but i stepped out for a spell..forgive me...)
