> Ahhh~maybe there is a link between eye color and mental illness?? (I say this as I roll my green eyes..LOL)Looks like we are winning! Aren't green eyes supposed to be more rare than other colors? Very strange.

Hmmmm...
It's my light eyed cousins who suffer severe migraines, while my brown eyed cousins don't.
I always thought it was how the light was allowed into the eyes, but since migraines are also serotonin linked, perhaps not.
I think Babble is too small a group to make a representative sample, though. And there are also other qualities we have in common that would muddy trying to isolate one factor.

I doubt pigment affects the brain. Is pigment what you call the color in eyes, like skin? Anyway, you know what I'm talking about.

Well, it could also be that genes for eye color and genes for production of some sort of neurotransmitter are close together, and tend to correlate well with each other.
But isn't the human genome thoroughly mapped now? If there was a correlation, wouldn't it be known by now?

Here's what they say about mapping genetic code:
[http://uttm.com/stories/2000/06/25/tech/main209380.shtml]
• "It appears unraveling the secrets of the entire human genetic code was the easy part. Now scientists say successfully applying the "book of life" to the benefit of mankind - curing diseases, pinpointing which genes do what and perfecting gene splicing - is still years down the genomic road."
Everywhere it said genetics of eye color are complicated & determined by multiple genes.
[http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=25003]
• "Eye color: The color of the iris. The genetics of eye color are complicated. Eye color is polygenic. It is determined by multiple genes. The genetics of eye color are so complex that almost any parent-child combination of eye colors can occur."
The only correlation I could find was here (kind of hard to understand):[http://www.emunix.emich.edu/~rwinning/genetics/beyond6.htm}
• "The gene for phenylketonuria in humans produces the skin pigment melanin. People with mutations in both copies of this gene suffer mental impairment, due to accumulation of phenylalanine in the brain, and they are very light-skinned and fair-haired, due to reduced melanin production."I think that last one is talking about a specific disorder - it had too many big words for me to wrap my brain around. But interesting though.
