i'm thinking linehan may have said it...

what i really need is something about heightened levels of physiological arousal leading to narrowing of attention

and i actually need to read it so i can see whether i can modify it so as to apply it to something else...

(paradoxically a lack of heightened levels of phsyiological arousal which should have occured - but didn't. or maybe the very notion of trying to apply it to this is completely confused...)

?

Hi Alex

I'm fairly sure Linehan has said something almost identical. If you want to search though, it might be easier to look for "when someone *is in* an intense emotional state." I don't think the way you'd phrased it is actually correct english, because a person can't 'have' a state, they can be in one though.

oh sure.. any time..

after hell freezes over. :)

Good luck..

And you know I only corrected you cause I was pretty sure it wouldn't be in a search engine phrased that way right?

Aw.

heh heh. i don't mind being corrected. my spelling, use of apostrophes, use of grammer generally etc etc is actually quite appalling (i can't even remember to use capitals much of the time)

;-)

seriously though, i found so many hits that i don't think i actually need reference (seems to be commonly accepted). the hard part might be what i wanted to do with it...

but i will have a look in linehan
(i'll check the index)
so thanks for that.
