Bob,
Are you waiting for someone to ask you or are you still collecting you thoughts about last weekend? It wouldn't have happened if you hadn't encouraged the gathering, so I was wondering how you thought it went and what your impressions of us are.It was a significant event for me because it was somehow psychologically validating to now know that these bright and supportive confidents here are absolutely real. Oh, and you were real too, if a little enigmatic still, but that was somehow important for me to find out as well.
For those of you who did not attend, please be patient with those who did. It was really a fun and emotional time and I hope you bear with us as we process it on these boards. The posts will die out eventually. I already see most participants posting as normal.

How dare you call me normal! Or is that NORML?

Yeah, the Supreme Court sure dropped the ball on that one yesterday (allowing Federal agents to arrest dying patients using natural medicines prescribed by physicians).
"Wigging out with anxiey?" From where I sat you looked cool as a cucumber to me, pc.

It wouldn't have happened if you hadn't encouraged the gathering, so I was wondering how you thought it went and what your impressions of us are.I somehow get the idea that Dr. Bob isn't going to write about his impressions about the Babble Party...it just isn't his style. Maybe Dr. Bob is just that kind of person...quiet, keeps to himself, would rather observe than participate, but without being non-social (is this a word?). Weird, he kind of sounds like how I am IRL...what's this called again? Projection? Is that the word? LOL

...oh wait, projection involves transfer of "undesirable" things onto another person...but the traits I mentioned are NOT undesirable...
..so it must not be projection?
Oh well, whatever. :-)

Hi Deneb,
Projection can involve positive traits, too.:)

Wigging out invisibly is my specialty. I also had a migraine the whole time in Chicago - I tell you, my bod is very busy trying to keep me down! I didn't want to miss a single second of the weekend.
Eventually, if my anxiety is left untreated by xanax or some other, ill-chosen depressant, I'll start leaking tears for about 3 hours. Some people (like 80% of the folks I worked with) never know a thing was awry.
the fam was pretty surprised, too.

I think Dr. Bob is still a Rorschach test, because I didn't see him as withholding or enigmatic at all. :) Of course, I also saw him as being almost exactly as I imagined him. I was ever so relieved.
My biggest fear in going is that Dr. Bob would be... ummmmm... not someone whose board I'd want to participate on. Whew!
(BTW, if I did indeed steer you to the paths of civility, it's because I saw something I liked in you. I don't herd just anyone you know.)

It didn't show a bit.
That probably works against your best interests, because if we had known we could have found someplace quiet for a bit. Like I told Larry, it's better to let a little leak out at a time. (Says the person who has had three screaming crying fits in the last couple of weeks - in public.)
I've oddly been nearly migraine free since stopping the Depakote I was on to prevent migraines. Even over the trip! Which was a big potential trigger.
Go figure.
On the other hand, I've also had three screaming crying fits. :)

Hi PC-
I'd never guess you had a migraine ... you hide it well, and those are impossible for me to handle, let alone hide.
You were the perfect dinner mate :)
And I still want to change your name to mostly sunny.
Annierose
p.s. I agree. Dr. Bob was exactly how I imagined him. Very kind. A good listener. And likes a good restaurant with a decent bottle of wine and hors d'oeuvres!!

Dr. Bob was the first person I saw at the restaurant, he looks just like his pictures. So I guess they aren't air brushed for glamour. (LOL)
I agree it was a fun and emotional time, and I am so glad that I was able to be there.

Totally patient and loving hearing about the trip. I don't post often... mostly just lurk, but I do read the boards daily. Tend to only post when suicidal or drunk (or both) LOL
But thanks all for the trip report.

did y'all use real names up there, or just your babble names?

Babble names. Which was exceedingly cool in public places.
