Hi All,
Dr. Bob, I know this probably belongs on the social page, but I wanted to get as much pub. as possible. I've been thinking that I would like to start an organization that helps out with understanding mental illnesses and helps those with mental illnesses. This idea was inspired by my numerous trips to the hospital with MD/Bipolar. While in the hospital I saw some needs that went unmet. For example, one kid just needed some cloths, but he walked around in one of those horrible hosptial robes for like a week before his friends brought him some. Also as a Christian I know that faith really can bring hope to people who are hurting. So here are my mission statements:1. To bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to mental health patients. To present God as a comforter, a shoulder to cry on , an arm to lean on, and an ear to talk to.
2. To meet physical needs necessary to maintain the dignity of mental health patinents while in the hospital.
3. To be a liason between mental health patients and the general public. To promote awareness and understanding of mental health and mental illnesses.
If anyone is in Northern California and would like to help me get this thing started, please e-mail me at [email protected] Also let me know if you have any expertise in getting organizations started, like how to get funding etc...Thanks!
