Reoccuring dreams of EX!!!!

Posted by andyboy on June 8, 2003, at 18:28:57

Hi all,
Lately (within the past 2 weeks) I have been having these remarkably vivid and realistic dreams of my ex-girlfriend and I getting back together. I mean- they are so real- that I genuinely feel like it is happening or happened, then I wake up and have that "lingering feeling" for a good half hour or so. We were together for 5 years and split just over a year ago. It was by no means a bad breakup and we have been actually able to maintain a pretty good frienship (via telephone and email). I havent had these dreams until just these past weeks though- and it seems like almost every night. Theyre actually kind of haunting because although I am over her- these dreams tell me otherwise!!! Any feedback would be great! Thanks
Andy

Andy

Some of the meds used to treat mental health issues can have profound affects on a person's dreams. Effexor has given me a whole seperate running life scenario through my dreams.

Just a thought.

BEST WISHES

Hi Andy -

I was thinking along the same lines as Willow. My dreams were so vivid when I was Effexor, they were really troubling. Some of the other meds gave me vivid dreams too. I'm on Wellbutrin now, and sometimes I can't remember if something actually happened or if it was just a dream. Not stuff like tightrope walking of course, but things like did I take care of this paperwork or tell someone something I needed to.

Even after I stopped taking some of these meds, my dreams would remain vivid for quite a while. Also, sometimes when I have a change in my sleep pattern, it may cause me to remember more of my dreams because I wake up during them or right after. I could very well have been having the same dreams before, but they slipped away in the night.

sometimes for me, a sexual dream about someone means i want to feel closer to them, but not that i necessarily want to be _with_ them. maybe you just want the same level of friendship that you used to have with exgirl.

i went through a traumatic breakup 3 years ago, where the woman and i have not had much contact since. i have moved on, but occasionally she still makes an appearance in a dream.

i don't think we ever 'get over' ex-lovers; even if we don't have a relationship with them, they're still somehow a part of our lives forever.

I dreamt last night that I was in a relationship with Eminem!! *lol*

Seriously though... I often dream of my ex.. we're always back together but no one must know.. I kind of put it down to actually hvaing got over him if that makes sense.. We split up and remained friends for a few months, till his new girlfriend got in the way.. then I didn't see him for 2 years... we met again at a friends wedding (6 weeks before I was due to get married) and I realised then I was totally over him.. as the "coolness" I liked back then in him, just seemed contrived and pathetic now!! And thatsz when I started dreaming about him!!

Nikki xx
