> -MandaI'm not an expert, but I don't think that's common in unipolar depression, although it might depend on the type of mood swings--from what to what.
I have unipolar depression and usually I'm just depressed. Sometimes more so than others.

In other words, I'll be in a perfectly fine, cheerful, optimistic mood, and then I'll be absolutely completely depressed an hour later...

I've had spells of feeling 'normal' then back down too, as another 'unipolar d' person.
Can be tantalising- reminder that you *can* feel OK. As you get better, the normal spells get more common and long lasting.
If the 'up' swings include being hyper, that's probably more bi-polar- but check with your doctor/therapist if you are concerned?

What meds are you on, if any?

I think that can happen in unipolar depression. I've had days when I feel okay in the morning but depressed in the afternoon, but maybe not as dramatically different of a feeling as what you describe.

I'm on Wellbutrin, but it's not working anymore. (I'm looking for a pdoc.) I just went and talked to my therapist. We're going to monitor my moods, etc.- maybe just stress, maybe some cyclothymia mixed with major dep., maybe bipolar showing up (I have a big family history of bipolar)... Anyway, thanks for all of the responses. I was just curious about whether anyone else had experienced that.
