If you have to do things in two's (ex: eat 2 crackers, pray twice, smoke two cigs)thinking that if you don't, something bad is going to happen.... is that OCD?

Not necessarily. It could just be a learned pattern, that can be unlearned. OCD can manifest itself more prominently as either obsessive or compulsive behavior, not necessarily BOTH. I have OCD, at least DX as OCD, however, I am not compulsive as a rule. Obsessions become a problem when they interfer with "normal" life performance to a degree that they are noticeable by others. If you like to check to make sure the door is locked every night, no worries. If you have to go back a second or third timeto check, well......
Your "twosies" may be just a quirk you learned to do. Try consciously NOT to do it, then see how that makes you feel. If you are REALLY uncomfortable to the degree you really are worrying about that second thing, perhaps you might be a candidate for OCD treatment. If you can "will" yourself NOT to do the second thing, and it may take some positive re-enforcement, you may be relatively "normal". Check back and let us know.

Thankx for your response PAX..... I tend to believe it's a quirky little thing of mine(my friends and family sure think so).. or maybe that's just what I want it to be.
I remember being a child doing this. Oh, this is going to sound ridiculous... but I was in class(maybe kindergarten).. and in my head I had to make sure I touched everyone in the class(just brushed by them... nothing sexual)... or I wouldn't get a lot of candy that Halloween night.I used to go to bed.... pray twice.... and turn my light switch on and off twice. Take a sip of water twice. I still do the praying and the water thing twice... but lost the light switch. :-)
I always thought if I ate one dorito.... it would be lonely in my stomache so I would eat two. Do you think it's possible that subconsciencely I'm still a child thinking that? I still do that.... to a degree of course, I don't have 2 cheesburgers or whatnot. Always snack foods.
I guess I have lost a lot of it.... it's something that my family always joked about... me and my two's... and I guess I just always wondered about it. It's nothing I'm worried about..... just tossed it out their, curious.
PAX now thinks me an airhead,
Kristi. :-)

No, my dear, this is not indicative of OCD because if it were, then you would have been compulsed to ask *two* stupid questions but the fact is that you didn't. Case dismissed. Be thankful you don't think in terms of hexidecimal.
I know someone who does things in sixes. When I asked her why, she gave me six different answers. Did I expect anything differently?
You have a little quirk, like we all do, myself included: if I don't make the Sign of The Cross at least two times when booting WIN-XP, then I am certain my machine will croak.

Yes, i should have picked up on Kazoo's obvious observation that you DID NOT make two complaints (or even unintentially double post the same message). Unless the 2's really bothers you to the degree you get all wacky for the rest of the day if you "fail to comply" don't worru about it. Hey, after all, Santa Clause checks HIS list twice. Works for him.

The stupid question is the unasked one...blah blah blah...
I am glad that you, for one, have held on to a wonderful quirky, childhood do dah...do dah..

Streaching Kazoo's insight, I'd say if you
bought two cars at once, or two houses, I'd worry.
Otherwise it sounds like a cute quirk (anyway, maybe dorrios do get lonely :-)

I have to wear one of two shirts to bed. One's an Ani Difranco shirt; the other is a Grammici. Both are grey. It is a rare day that I don't wear one of those shirts, and it often means they don't get washed for quite a while!
I also can't use my daughter's toothpaste, because I did once, and I didn't sleep that night.
I have a special pair of earrings, a necklace, and a ring that, when I wear them together at some time during the day, bring me good luck with sleeping.
We all have our special rituals. I, too, was worried that this may seem O/C, so I asked my therapist. He said the same thing, but if you're in doubt, try to do it the other way once. If you can, don't worry about it. If you can't, you may have a problem.
(I believe someone else said something similar.)
