how do you experience deja vu???

Posted by obsidian on November 26, 2007, at 23:03:31

I was leaving work and while walking up to my car I got seized by an attack of deja vu...with it came an intense kind of fear/discomfort and a queasy feeling
I felt stuck in it and hoped it would pass while I noticed someone across the parking lot- nothing special I just noticed they were there...and I hoped I wouldn't look stupid or something, and there I was stuck in that moment that seemed like a "replay"...I walked slowly through it and then it went away

how does anybody else experience this??

Yes others experience this.. I am not usre why.. Maybe it reminds you of a differnt place and time.. I have had it happen quite a few times in my life.. It is kind of cool but a bit disorienty because it is puzzling.. I wouldn't worry too much about it.. I have have really strange ones where I couldn't possibly have done it before but it sure feels like it.

It for me is a feeling that I'm exactly in the same place , same time, same people as before. Varies on whether it's good or bad. Phillipa

hi!
I've experienced it many times...I can't remember the first time, but many times I'm talking to someone in a certain place, and I get the feeling that I've lived that very same moment before, especially the words that were said, the things I see...the whole situation.
I can't remember a specific time, but I do experience it from time to time.

Take care,
Frida

Sorry I didn't respond sooner.
I don't do true deja vu very often.
I think I did it more in my teens for some reason.
But it was the standard experience of having done/been at/experienced exactly the same thing before. But its just sorta on the edge of my awareness. The moment soon passes.
Can't remember last time.
Take care sid.
M

When I experience deja vu, I get the entire piece encapsulated: memory which includes all sensations like taste, smells, sounds, sights. A momentary suspension of real-time when I'm aware that what's about to transpire I have experienced before, but no awareness of exactly when it might have been.

Has happened throughout my life and doesn't appear to be about anything in particular or of any consequence or trauma. Just everyday stuff. Sometimes it's just for a few seconds; other times the sequence seems to last for several moments.

I do enjoy the moments in repose, but at the time I get a bit apprehensive (for no good reason).

Are you perhaps changing medications? Sometimes when I'm changing my medications I experience things that make me say "Whoa! Weird temporal lobe stuff."

Migraines sometimes too.

But severe anxiety also causes me to have odd experiences. Usually more along the lines of thinking things I know look strange rather than the other way around. We're all different though.

Deja vu? Occasionally I suppose. For most of my adult life I've had experiences that have "reminded" me of a dream. I'm not sure how on earth I can remember this dream all those years when I can't really remember the dream at all other than associating it with the smell of creepy crawlers goo. It's pretty transient. I grab at it and can't quite get it before it slips away. But for a moment it really seems like I'm reliving something from that dream. I can even smell the cooking creepy crawlers. Then it's gone.
