Does people understand at all how it is to have 'people'? Does it make sense to others? Do I just come across as a flake? I always figgered lots have people, but maybe they don't? I dunno what it is NOT to, its all I've ever known. It was a GOOD thing when I realized what was going on cuz allasudden so much made sense.
Sometimes I don't think my T 'gets' it. Cuz unless it comes up in our faces, she don't say much.
But I guess she's tried....I just freak when she tries...so I guess its my fault.
I'm not sure....but i think my T said today again that I was challenging....and she's used the word stubborn....sigh...she's also called me chicken....damn, I reckon she pretty bang on.

I am the client from hell.
And I goto decide whether to sleep or make hay.
Find peace or live in torment.
Be a great Mom, or be a wrecked Mom.
These what I goto think of.
But for sure,
I never have sex again!
HA!
LOL!

Muffled,,
No you are not any weirder than I am!! ;).. Yes some of us have "people"..they make things more difficult.. I ahve come to beleive that until you deal with them that you can't do alot of work on anything else..they sabotage the work you are trying to do..
They want you to listen to them.. I don't know what they all want but they bug me all the timehugs

Muffled, honey, you've got far more choices than just those -- you could work at being a good enough mother, for instance. Or, you could nap on the sofa, rather than either sleeping or making hay...
All I know is this: you're a warm and supportive person, who shows great kindness and compassion. Whatever else you may be, those are the attributes of a good person.
It may, however, make you weird. It sometimes seems as though kindness and compassion are rare commodities these days.

I smiled when I saw your post title. I think I posted the exact same thing years ago. And I ask my therapist periodically.
If I remember correctly, no one tried to convince me that I was a run of the mill ordinary person. But they did manage to convince me that it was not half bad to be quirky and interesting. (Along the lines of what llurpsie said above.) Something Tabitha said to me actually changed my self image forever. Except maybe for those times I actually see myself.
My therapist is less charming about it. But he insists that he likes me just the way I am. That there's nothing wrong with being different.
So I guess I'd say to you what they said to me. Maybe most people don't have the experience you have. You certainly aren't alone. You are unique and love-able just as you are. I always love reading your posts, and I'm sure your therapist enjoys seeing you and cares about you.
Are you challenging? Maybe so. It's better than being boring, don't you think? I'm not sure my therapist finds me challenging anymore. I liked it better when he did.
Are you stretching her knowledge and training? I know you've always been concerned about that, and that you have reason to believe she doesn't have much experience in the area. But I have to think that isn't really all that bad. She comes to you without any rigid beliefs. She's willing to learn.
You're not only ok, muffled. You're way better than ok.

Yeah, so far my T seems to be doing Ok. She pretty smart. Takes care of herself. Works w/2 other T's and they have 1x/mo info session togetrher to talk. Or more often as needed. She has her own T she goes to bout every 4-6 wks. So she is covered I expect.
Thanks,
Take good care dinah.

Muffled,
You are kind, compassionate, supportive, witty and unique! Life would be so boring if we were all the same. Sometimes you make me cry, sometimes you make me laugh. But most importantly, you make me feel. You are a treasure. HUGS

You're not even a little bit weird, Muffly. You do an astonishing job of dealing with some very tricky stuff. Your honesty and courage inspire me.

To understand what is truly weird, we must first define it's opposite. normal. Normality is the quality that results after gathering a group and selecting the attribute that occurs most frequently. So, simply, normality is an average. Rarely do any of the individual items in the group actually equal the average.
So as far as being weird. Welcome to the club. We have jackets. It is my opinion that we should strive to see how many strange looks we can incite from onlookers. It is my opinion that the world would be better with more oddity and less anger. More eccentricity than jealousy. Leaving "average" and heading into the new and unknown leaves behind our natural xenophobia and makes us more in tune with our world. Which is a thing of change and flux.
So muffled, I respond to you. Be as weird as you can be.

Oddly enough Bodhisattva, I agree with you. My T always says the only normal she knows of is that setting on a clothes dryer. Anything else is just not true. this is when I state I am not normal.
