I said to my T...

Posted by muffled on September 6, 2006, at 15:25:01

are you sick of me yet?
She wouldn't answer at first.
Instead she said she was challenged by me.
Then she finally said she weren't sick of me.
But she kinda circled around it.
But then she explained.
Its cuz I come at everything she says expecting her to dump me.
I am so ridiculous.
Goto admire her tenacity.

:-)

I tested my therapist every which way. Still do I guess.

I'm glad she's coming through for you.

Sometimes our T's have to repeat things way more than once for use to get it...really get it. Old habits die hard, you know? I'm glad she's tenacious with you. You're definitely worth sticking around for.

that's a tough question right?...I mean tough to ask for fear of the answer
it was tough for me definitely
I came right out and asked my own version

"Do you hate me?" and I was very serious- hard to ask, but you have to challenge the fears right?

good for you muffs

Hi Muffy,

My T says that I'm not easy to work with. I can't be insulted by it because I know I'm not easy to work with. No disagreement here.

Still she sticks with me and called me last week when she was on vacation, so she must like working with me. Like your T likes working with you. How bad can it be, it's not like either of us are difficult? ROFL.

And I can't stand to come close to where I think I might be testing my T... She might not come through, she might finally see how awful I really am, etc.

Same coin, different flip, right?

Mostly, I try to cope with it by reminding myself that she's trained to be able to handle it, trained to hide her feelings -- and remembering that when I had students I didn't like, I often found myself looking forward to their lessons after a while, because those lessons were such a challenge for me.

I dunno... But I think our Ts are usually pretty dang good at handling their reactions to those of us as easy to work with as Poet, Muffled, and Racer...

Hey, Muffy, I can't imagaine ANYONE hating you. You might be a challenge to your T , but from what my T has said (I am another challenging client), is that I am more interesting to work with. Can you imagaine how some clients must bore them to tears? LOL Well us challenging clients keep it exciting, don't ya think? LOL

And about the attachment, I understand that. It is so hard because it opens you up for hurt and when everyone had hurt us in our lives, that is very hard. But eventually we have to or nothing good will come into us either.

You are making progress Muffy! If you are like me, you will be going back and forth on this but it sounds like you have a sweet T , and a very smart one too, she knows you , she can handle anything you throw at her, you know that. You will be okay. ((((Muffy))))
