Hi everyone...I realized I haven't introduced myself, I've just been popping up all over the board today. I have been reading here for quite some time and feel like I know so many of you. So, I just decided to jump in with two feet and start posting. Maybe it's because there's a lot going on in my therapy right now. But that's what we're here for, right?
Anyway, hello to everyone & I'm glad I'm here!

Welcome Spalding. I like your name.
I've been wondering lately about people who just read. It's ok, of course, I've just been wondering. How many are there? Why are they reading here? Are they also in therapy, and looking for insights or gaining comfort from the commonalities? Why else might someone read here? Students probably, to learn what we might be thinking and feeling, seeing how we express ourselves through varied phases of therapy.
Anyway, welcome, welcome to writing about yourself!

I was thinking baseball -- "good-bye Mr. Spalding!" but I could be wrong.
Glad to see you posting. Jumping in is the only way to do it!

Hi everyone! Thanks for the kind words.
As an ex-jock, I certainly don't mind "Spalding" in a sports sense. :)
But, in this case, Spalding is the name of my dear kitty who passed away on Sunday. She was named for Spalding Gray, who was a NYC-based monologist and actor who I saw many times on stage and just loved for his work. I first discovered Spalding Gray in college in 1986, we got Spalding the cat in 1991.
As they are both now passed on, a friend of mine said the other day, "Spalding (the cat) is now sitting next to her namesake." I really liked that.

"Are they also in therapy, and looking for insights or gaining comfort from the commonalities?"
That's me, ShortE. I was reading for a while to see what others went through and if anything resonated considering my crazy experiences. :)
It does resonate. And I have to thank the folks here for that. Not that it's a good thing that we all have pain to deal with, but that we can find a good place to share and help.

It was her heart and she went very quickly, without a prolonged period of pain and suffering...I take as much comfort as I can in that, though sometimes it is hard. Thinking of her makes me smile, though.
This is the end of the thread.
