HI
I've been here a couple weeks but this is a first post in phychology..I am using my webtv and sometimes it won't start a thread. I'll give it a try. I have a obsession with my teeth after a dental procedure. I can't get my teeth out of my mind. Even at night. I take paxel remeron seroquel for it but it really doesn't help that much. any help on how to "forget" or "ignore" something that won't go away.
Thanks dd

Well, if I remember my DBT correctly, one tool is to accept the thoughts' existence. Don't fight them but merely observe them like you would observe leaves floating down the stream.
The more energy you put into disliking the thoughts, trying to stop them, the more energy the thoughts will have. But if you stop and observe them quietly, the energy will seep out.
This involves learning to adopt an observer's stance I suppose.
"Skills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder (Paperback)"
Don't let the name fool you. It's full of good general skills techniques that should probably be taught in school with Algebra and English. If your library doesn't have it, you can try an interlibrary loan. And let them know they *should* have it. :)

The tape is available from www.biobill.org, even though it wasn't on the website last time I checked. Email Dr. Barton and ask for his "Relax to Sleep" tape.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the info. I am going to call Barnes and Noble and see if they have it. I had a bad day yesterday and to day is even worse. This is crazy to have such a thing happen just over a tooth. Is this a thing with Borderline personality disorder. (obsession)My meds are making a mess of me also. I can't get them right.
This is the end of the thread.
