This is becoming very problaatic
I thought I was fine and that I didn't need anyone and then this happens again??I really need some help. I seem to be having more frequent anxiety and I am really concerned about it
it started slowly todayy and I now feel my head is all pins and needly and my chest is extrememly tight. I can't even do anything, im just staring into nowhere. I feel like Im about to be ill.
Everything is confusing me, everything....
how do I make this go away. Why exactly is this happening out of no where, I can not calm down. Any suggestions please??thank you

I am trying to breath but it isn't working, my chest isn't allowing itself to move.

Almost sounds like a panic attack. What helps me is concentrating on the air going in and out of my lungs and then slowly make myself aware of other things, i.e. moving my hands and feet, the different colors I see.

I am moving around alot cause I feel funny but whats the difference between panic attack adn anwiety, can it last this long? I will keep trying the breathing and refocussing

My anxiety is also increasing, as I'm no longer effectively medicating the symptoms with Effexor or Cymbalta. Also situations that used to trigger anxiety that didn't while I was taking medication are creating anxiety (no mystery there, I guess).
Overall, it helps me to have a white noise machine on so I can concentrate on something innocuous (at the moment it's "Oceanside" noise) instead of thinking about how horrible I feel; and trying to slow down my breathing helps somewhat. I'm thinking of taking up yoga again as it really did instill a lovely feeling of calm.
But for me, at the moment the real relief comes from taking a xanax, or I simply cannot function at work.

xanax would be amazing right now. I have nothing, actually im going to go search I can't take this, its awful, I am trying to focus on this right now but Im not sure whats happening....Music may help, ill try it.

I am messed up! I can't think prpoerly. REally really this is anxiety? I have had a few bouts of it this before but it feels more like Im.....umm losing it.

Hmm,I've had panic attacks last hours - and it does feel different fro me from anxiety. People feel different symptoms, but I would get a really restrictive feeling in my throat like I couldn't swallow (except I could); whereas the anxiety is more like a monster sitting on your chest, weighing you down and making you, well, anxious. You can definitely experience anxiety and have a panic attack on top of it. It makes for a very unhappy person who is sure she/he is freaking out.
Also, when I first was getting panic attacks I was sure there was something wrong with my throat because it would happen in my sleep. A sharp GP told me at the time to get a new career with less stress. It turns out, 12 years on, that work was only part of the problem.

Ok so I feel the monster on my chest and a generalized feeling of absoulute crap and shakiness. It seems to be getting a little better now though.

re - the monster thing, I have definitely read way too many Steven King stories. I was thinking of the black cat that sat on a kid's chest and stole his breath. That kind of pressure and nastiness.

deep breaths. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Focus on your breathing, not the overwhelming, scary feelings. The feelings will start to subside once you stop feeding them and perpetuating the cycle. I know it's hard, but keep breathing - In through the nose, out through the mouth. Try to push everything else out of your mind except for deep, cleansing breaths from the belly - in through the nose and out through the mouth.
You will get through this Rain. And, we are here to help you and talk you through it when you need support.

it is so hard not to focus on the feelings...the breathing thing sucks I wish we didn't need to do that. I would be fine if that wasnt a survival requirement. :)
It is less intense but its lingering. I need to just breath for a start.

I am, thanks. I had some help getting through it. Distraction is great, only its hard to do when alone.
I think I need to stop fiddling with my antidepressant, this may be the culprit.
Is it normal to have a splitting headache after a rush of anxiety like that?

The stress of an anxiety episode could certainly cause a headache. I get them most days of my life. (Unfortunately, this is not a joke. I am a living headache.)

Every day at some point. When I first went to see my p-doc it was a 24/7 problem, with panic attacks every day, too.
These were combined with major depression. Now, THAT seems to be in remission, so things are much much better now than they were.How are you feeling today?

It would be awful to go through all the time. I'm glad things are better for you.
I'm much better, couldn't sleep, but at least I don't feel like i did yesterday.
