It's my birthday, and I didn't say a word about it to my T. I didn't say a word about it last year either. (Yikes, I've been in therapy awhile!) Anyway, when I walked in and sat down today, he turned on his CD player and blared the Beatles' "Birthday" ("They say it's your birthday . . ."), had a candle for me to make a wish and blow out, and gave me a beautiful card with a hiking path (a walking trail is one of the meditation tapes he made for me) with a note inside about that and ended with "It's a pleasure to know and work with you." I was very touched. I guess he writes my birthdate a lot on insurance forms or something.
Just thought I'd share one of the rare lighter and touching moments of my therapy since I usually only complain!

On my 50th B-day a few months back I went to therapy...I had been telling him I was going to turn 50 for the last several sessions. At the end of the session he said "Oh yes, and have a Happy Birthday". I laughed as I went out and thought "Well that was Special" (sarcasticly). I think its a great opportunity for a T to show that you are a real person to them not just a client. I'm glad for you and proud of your T. Sounds like a keeper!

Wow, how lovely. Your T sounds great. I've never had a T remember my birthday at all. Which has been ok with me, but it sure would be nice if they *did* remember.

That sounds really nice :-)
One of my t's gave me daffodils on my birthday one year. I was embarrased, but it was a sweet thought.
The t I saw last year terminated me before my birthday. But what was spookey there was that our birthday was on the same day. Same day, 20 years apart exactly.
Spookey.

Happy Birthday from me too...
What a nice thing for him to do. Just when we think we've got them all figured out...

That is so sweet. I'm glad you had that experience. It's nice to hear the good stuff, too. And happy belated birthday, btw!
