On PBW Bob said he liked a poster's metaphor.

While I, too, think it is a wonderful image, I find this accolade by Bob unusual in my experience here. Lots of people say clever, intelligent, kind, insightful and supportive things here without his seal of approval. Again, he may be incouraging a new poster to stay which is good, but the child within me says, "he loves him better."Toph

I have seen Bob on rare occasions post on Writing, but yes... it is rare. I had two thoughts when I read this post:
1) This poem hit Bob personally, he's had these same feelings.
2) Bob had a smidge too much bourbon, and let his guard down for a moment. He really would like to post more. It's lonely at the top.

Betcha anything those lines reverberated with DB for some reason, otherwise why would he say anything?
Personally, I would've said sitting beside the driver's seat of life.... I mean, he IS a passenger at this point, isn't he? And what's apassenger to do, but sit and watch?
I really just think it struck a chord with DB ... interesting, huh????

Em, I'll bet you're right on both counts, esp. the smidge and the lonely on top ... but do you think maybe he has his own arenas he can go to? Remember there's a section just for professionals on his boards, too.....

I had a reason to email Dr. Bob once, needing something deleted from a post. He took care of it and added "sorry things are so rough for you right now."
I was really touched. Really, really.
So some of his support might not be on the Boards.
And like any good therapist, he does like each of us "best"...

Toph, I just went and read that poem. It's so expressive of the pain of the person, speaks so well of her/his state of mind. And does so beautifully. Sometimes a person combines words in such a way that they reverberate inside me, and perhaps they did the same for Bob, or maybe for him, he who strives to understand, they were able to clearly reveal a state of mind.
