[I posted this in the medication section but it seem's like more of neuro-receptor question so i'll post it here]
I am a college student on abilify and i have been having a problem for the last year with heat intolerance and sweating [caused by abilify]. I tried to switch to serdolect half a year ago, but then switched back to abilify because of weight gain.
Now i am considering switching to zeldox, since the side effects of abilify are a big disadvantage. Before i do that i want to share my latest thoughts on the cause of this problem.
My theory is that the heat intolerance is caused by a disruption of the 5-ht1a (serotonin 1a) receptor. Abilify is partial agonist of this receptor.
I found that serotonin 1a, 2a, and 2c affect temperature regulation. However it seems that all 2.gen. AP's affect 2a and 2c. Therefore i thought it might be 1a causing the heat intolerance in abilify.
If this is true then i was thinking maybe a 5-ht1a antagonist might help. The only one i could find was pindolol, and this drug doesn't seem too good either.
I am interested in hearing anyone else's thoughts on this subject.
