I speculate that it could be on the market in two to four years. Phase III clinical trials are ongoing in the United States. See http://www.neurotransmitter.net/agomelatine.jpg for details about some of agomelatine's clinical trials; the table was created by Daniela Eser, Thomas C. Baghai, & Hans-Jürgen Möller in 2007 (http:///pubmed.gov/17917562). Check out http://pubmed.gov?cmd=Search&db=pubmed&term=agomelatine for more research about the drug.

I am currently in a 14 month Phase III drug study of agomelatin. All I can say is IT WORKS. I saw visible positive results in only 3 doses and in less than 6 months I went from suicidal (ideation without attempt)(SDS 28) to remission (SDS 3 or less). I along with my clinician are concerned that once I have completed the study whether I will fair as well on another anti-depressant after doing so well on agomelatin.
