Single dose nicotine effect on reward responsivity

Posted by undopaminergic on August 16, 2023, at 11:07:43

I had a hunch that intermittent nicotine administration might have effects beyond the immediate reactions. A short investigation turned up this article:

Title: "A Single Dose of Nicotine Enhances Reward Responsiveness in Nonsmokers: Implications for Development of Dependence".

Full article:

As the title already reveals, a single dose of nicotine enhances reward responsivity. The study used non-drug rewards for this investigation. What's perhaps most interesting is that this increased reward responsivity lasts for at least one week.

You would make an excellent technical writer.
