In the West we do drugs to tune out, mushrooms make you tune in. That's a great way of putting it. I know three people who have started microdosing magic mushrooms recently. It's really catching on. In A Really Good Day, Ayelet Waldman writes about how microdosing LSD lifted her out of a suicidal depression. She gives a talk about it here:

From 1/6 psilocybin and MDMA are available here for no doubt strictly controlled therapeutic use.
With a bit of luck a grey market may open for microdosing, or maybe psiloscybe cubensis growing kits.

Two days ago, I went to an art exhibit opening reception. An elderly guy was sitting behind the snacks table, supervising. When someone reached for an M&M cookie, he joked, "The orange M&Ms have LSD in them." I started talking to him, and learned that he'd used LSD in his youth, so he was an LSD pioneer of the 1960s. We engaged in some psychedelic shop talk. Just a few hours later, I was at a different event, standing outside and watching a fireworks display. A woman in her 20s standing near me said, "I feel like I'm on acid." It gladdened my heart to hear two people who were 50 years apart in age bring up LSD in the same evening. The times they are a-changin', as Bob Dylan would say.

Ha-ha, that is great to hear!! Micro-dosing even made Dr. Phil, and, I'll admit, Dr. Phil was not too bad drawing that line between endorse and TRY to have a balanced presentation. It was obviously a bit unbalanced, as they had one woman who claimed methamphetamine killed her son, and drawing the line with meth and comparing to psilocybin. Ya...ok...that's really logical!! And this is micro-dosing...Jay

Microdosing magic mushrooms on Dr. Phil! That's about as mainstream as you can get. I just watched the episode on YouTube. It was frustrating to hear so much misinformation being spewed by the D.A.R.E.-like guests, and by Dr. Phil at times. But thanks to Dr. Phil and to the two microdosing women from Colorado, millions of more people have now heard of psilocybin microdosing.

Hi,
Thanks for the link to the article. I must admit that I'm quite skeptical about psychedelics being the cure all for depression/anxiety. I tried what turned out to be a herculean dose of psilocybin, I needed twice as much as my 6ft 2" friend to feel the same affects (admittedly not with a therapist). Although I felt good while on it, it didn't last. I tried Ketamine and LSD and it was exactly the same.
I know that we are all different and I know psychedelics are helping some people. I have to say the paragraph from the article below makes me feel quite cynical. It just sounds a bit woo woo to me.
"Through yoga, breathwork, massage, reiki and even some surf therapy, I was able to shed layers of grief. Through my shadow work I was reintroduced to my younger self, a joyful girl for whom the world was a place of joy, play and possibility".
I might look up some of the therapists that the article cites though as would be interested to find out how much they charge.
Denise
