Dosed is a documentary that follows a Canadian woman as she attempts to overcome her addiction to opioids by using psilocybin and ibogaine. Some of the leading researchers of psychedelics are interviewed -- Rosalind Watts (Imperial College London), Paul Stamets, Ingrid Pacey, Rick Doblin (founder of MAPS), Gabor Mate, Mark Haden, Garyth Moxey.

Hi, Hugh.

This is really exciting stuff.

Overall, what do you think is going with psilocycbin that it should be therapeutic for such a wide range of mental health issues? Ibogaine has been around for quite awhile, and there were many claims about its effects on a variety of psychobiological ailments. Wasn't it available in Canada?

Hi Scott,

Psychedelics give neuroplasticity a big boost, making it much easier for people to break their bad habits of thinking. As you know, during a bout of suicidal depression that I'd been trapped in for weeks, magic mushrooms ended my suicidal ideation within hours, and it would be years before I would become deeply depressed again. It was the most profound reaction I've ever had to a drug.

I haven't tried Ibogaine. It's available in British Columbia.

You're welcome, Scott. It is an amazing story.

I'm rereading Michael Pollan's How to Change Your Mind. He mentions a CBS News documentary from 1966 called LSD: The Spring Grove Experiment. I just watched it here:
