Psychedelic start-ups are changing the face of mainstream medicine

In Canada, there is a growing push for the medical use of psychedelics to treat a variety of mental health conditions

With Canadian cannabis legalization, psychedelics may be next

They advertise psilocybin microdising kits on facebook. I would like to see studies if there is a psychosis risk when you microdose. I am not taking someones word on the internet for that.

Go Canada! Humphry Osmond, a psychiatrist working in Saskatchewan in the 1950s, was a pioneering researcher of psychedelics. He's the one who coined the word "psychedelic."

Osmond's account of a peyote trip he took at the Native American Church:

Ahhhh Saskatchewan...has about the population of a suburb of Buffalo..lol. I lived there, in Regina, for about a year. But, wish I was around there in the 50's!! I read about Osmond in Michael Pollan's book, and the Saskatchewan experiments. Pollan experiments and accounts his 'trips' in the book, and Osmond's peyote experience above is incredible!

The psychedelic experience, it seems to be more comfortable at lower doses, provides a look into almost another'dimension'....a very, very different take on our mundane reality. That, in itself, seems to be the main benefit...to change our outlook on depressive, anxious, painful, scarred etc, everyday realities. We really have created a world that, with capitalism and the working-class reality, not only extremely boring, but so, so hard for many people. I personally don't see what is so wrong or bad about striving for a semi-utopia, to lessen so, so much of the pain the majority of the population feel. That is what people are trying to do with opiates, is to kill much of the pain from poverty, abuse, neglect, not 'fitting in', mundane existence....very much existential pain. If we can alter and treat this with psychedelics, I think we can get the strength to really change the world. Way beyond the 'opiate of the masses'...and I think that scares the crap out of the one percent of the population that live in luxury and decadence. Ok...I've said enough..lol..

I was in New York City over Christmas, and saw the play Flying Over Sunset. It's a wildly original musical about Aldous Huxley, Clare Booth Luce, and Cary Grant tripping on acid together. Humphry Osmond isn't in the play, but he's the one who introduced Huxley to psychedelics -- mescaline.
