I'm in the UK, About six months ago, I was asked if I wanted to take part in a survey about smoking as if I did I might qualify for a chest xray and lung checks.
They asked me lots of questions such as my social status, my education (if I had a degree), my profession etc etc. The ONE, obvious question they failed to ask me, was about my mental health history! Now I no that we can't all blame smoking on mental health and that people do smoke without having issues with their mental health but I would have thought that would be an obvious contributing factor.
I imagine that somebody/bodies got paid a substantial amount of money for putting that stupid questionnaire together.

I had experimented with smoking before, but didn't pick up the habit at that time. Now, it's been a few years since I smoked, but I'm still taking Nicorette.

Many patients pick up bad habits in hospital. I have seen MANY "borderliners" starting to cut themselves in hospital when they didn't before. Hanging around in bed in the middle of the day is what I picked up from there. It is not good.
It costs more money, but I'd say most would be better served to get visits in their home rather than going to hospital. In and out of hospital for decades is pretty pricey, too, but the hospital doesn't care $$$

They macimize the amount of pills given to you and minimize the actual care.

I agree they seem to be preoccupied with drugs, and antipsychotics seem to be their darling class.

>How do they find knives/razors in hospital?
I've come across at least one "cutter" in hospital. She had scars all over her arm(s). Once I saw she had a big patch on her arm, apparently after she had been home for a holiday.

Those were hospitals with not so strict rules I guess

We ate with knives etc. No one cared for their whereabouts. They often threatened the borderliners to throw them out if they continue cutting.

Yeah, but it would be very difficult to cut yourself with that type of knife.

>OK, I get it. It's essentially the same where I am now.
If I were to cut myself they would probably move me to a more restrictive ward and/or go through my stuff looking for sharp implements.

Most cuts are a little more discreet than that. Anyway, I've never been tempted.
> Whats new in there? So no stimulants. Anything else that could be helpful?
Still on the trimipramine, lamotrigine, sulpiride, and clozapine. I'm trying to get vortioxetine.

Low dose sulpiride? Does it brighten your mood? Is it one of the neuroleptics that can actually increase dopamine a bit at low dose? I thought about that. It could give you some stimulation and maybe that is more feasible for you than a full blown stimulant.

> Low dose sulpiride?
Not quite. 400 mg. The idea was to initiate it so that the clozapine could be reduced. I don't know why they think I need these high doses. I take 350 mg of clozapine. I have no psychotic symptoms, and that would tend to indicate that the dose is excessive.
> Does it brighten your mood?
Not that I can notice.
> Is it one of the neuroleptics that can actually increase dopamine a bit at low dose?
>Yes, it and amisulpride; maybe others. Flupenthixol is antidepressive, but the mechanism of this action is unknown.
> I thought about that. It could give you some stimulation and maybe that is more feasible for you than a full blown stimulant.
>It was more potent than methylphenidate when I first tried it, and free from the noradrenergic side effects, but complete tolerance developed quickly.

Have you ever tried any supplements? Did anything notable happen? Once in hospital they accepted that I took some while I was there. That was a cool move.

Numerous. For example several racetams, NAC, SAMe, sulbutiamine, vinpocetine, L-theanine, several other amino acids, taurine, huperzine A, rhodiola rosea, ginseng, sida cordifolia, and more that doesn't come to mind.
> Did anything notable happen?
I remembered more of my dreams on huperzine A. I seemed to get some kind of effect from L-theamine, but I can't describe it.

I've tried B vitamins several times, including pyridoxine. However, I have yet to try nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).
> Vitamin D?
I get that, and a multivitamin, now as part of my hospital regimen.

The doses are conventional.
I got the multivitamin because I'm so picky about what I eat.
I don't know why they started the vitamin D.
