Hi everyone,
Just got back from Walgreens and they told me they have no more generic Parnate (after the bottle I just picked up). They said no other pharmacies in the area have it either. I am supposed to call Walgreens every week to see if they found any anywhere.
Has anyone else had trouble getting a generic MAOI? I realize they are not used much. I can't get the brand-name because the generic is costing me $100/month as it is. Walgreens is the "preferred" pharmacy in my insurance so anywhere else will be more expensive.
Also, I had been taking the Actavis generic and Walgreens had to give me Par Pharmaceuticals because that was all they had left.
I'm not sure what to do here. is this a problem with Actavis, or with Walgreens, or with generic Parnate/MAOIS in general?
How am I supposed to take a med when I don't even know if it will be in stock each month?

Does your pharmacy offer mail order? My mail order company has greater access that my local Walgreens and have found things for me that the local pharmacy had trouble obtaining.

Well, they for some reason did not even say they would be placing an order for more Parnate for me for next month. (I'm the only customer on it in the store.) It was more like they were going to wait and see if some happened to show up or something?
The other issue is that I am still titrating the dose upward so my dose is still changing. Maybe once I am on a stable dose I could do mail order.

I'm sorry you're having such problems. I have never had problems getting parnate, but I live in a big city with 4 medical schools and several teaching hospitals, so MAOIs are more commonly prescribed.
But once your does is stabilized, you should be able to mail-order it from Walgreens.

Thanks, I will look into the mail order. I think I am one of only a handful of people on an MAOI in my area other than those who are on EMSAM.
