Current dose: 50mg Paroxetine CR / day. Taken at bedtime. Paxil is causing low libido and anorgasmia. I can get an erection, but crossing the finish line is impossible. I was okay with the side effects while single, but Im dating someone now and would REALLY like to have my sex drive and ability to orgasm back. I tried adding 100mg/day of Wellbutrin, but that didnt help. At all. Are there any other options? I tried switching to Trintillex. My sex drive came back...along with all my OCD symptoms. Im at my wits end, so I figured Id come and ask the smartest people on the internet. Many thanks for any help you can give!

You might investigate buspirone (Buspar).

The most common side effects from any of the SSRIs are impotence, lack of desire, and anorgasmia (difficulty finishing), and emotional numbing. The excess serotonin from these meds is not normal to the body and causes things to change.
How to fix the problem is an ongoing question. Every person seems to find something that helps them a little bit. But the difficulties generally remain. Ritalin or other dopamine agents can help with the desire. Viagra and also help with that but makes anorgasmia worse. Sometimes people try drug holidays - for example, skip the med on Monday if anticipating sex on Tuesday - but generally speaking it seems to me one day holiday is not enough, you need 3-4 days instead. So that really isn't a good option.
Sometimes antipsychotics can work by blocking certain receptors to the excess serotonin and boosting dopamine. For example when I added Zyprexa to my prozac the sexual side effects from prozac improved. It wasn't a total fix or a cure, but improved.
Off the top of my head the best thing to do would be experiment with the various sexual herbs. Just google herbs for sex. Actually google is tracking your every move and spying on you so go to duckduckgo.com instead - same thing without the spying.
There are about a dozen different herbs popularly found in sexual enhancement pills and I am pretty sure there are 2 or 3 of them that would help you.
OCD can be dealt with in other ways besides SSRIs. There are herbs and supplements that can do at least as good and usually better, at cheaper cost and low side effects. Maybe start some research in that direction.
This is the end of the thread.
