8 months ago I stopped becoming sexually aroused. Suddenly I could not get off. Prior to this change I was somewhat of a sex addict. This was not a decrease in my libido. I continued to think the same sexual thoughts daily-my interest in sex was not diminished. The problem was my thoughts were not arousing me, no matter the content of my fantasies. Because I had trouble getting excited, I could not achieve an erection and if I did I could not maintain it. I initially thought my problem was simply erectile dysfunction. I went through all the ED pills and did not respond to any of them. They simply did not address the real problem, my lack of arousal.
The medications I'm on:
Lithium 900 mg
Mirtzapine 30 mg
Vyvanse 70 mg
Primidone 250 mg
Vraylar 6 mg
Propanalol 120 mgexcept for the Lithium, I started all of these medications after the problem started happening...

Anhedonia? Excuse me if I'm misunderstanding.

Hmm, you could try reducing the lithium.
Other than that, you might try lightening up a bit on other meds. Too many meds can dam up the hormonal flow.

Not anhedonia-I have not lost interest in day to day things.
I'm having great difficulty becoming sexually aroused.

I had been on Lithium with no problems for 12 years. Could dysfunction have set in late in the game?

i would add l-tyrosine or dl - phenylalanine to your med combination.....they increase dopamine and NE in the nerve synapse....which will increase desire to have sex
vyvanse 70mg is maybe a good dose, but when its increased to 140mg it will increase sexual desire due to the dopamine increase in the nerve synapse, ask your doctor to work with your dosage of it

How is your sex drive (libido)?
Is your libido high but not being translated to sexual excitement (arousal)?
It is possible to be very attracted to someone physically without having a sex drive. In other words, the eyes work just fine, but your genitals, which also work just fine, simply don't get the message. It is as if a circuit connecting your eyes to your genitals has been severed. Prazosin does this to me. Not only that, but desipramine inhibits erectile function. I am in the unfortunate situation that, in order to obtain remission from a life-ruining medical condition, I must sacrifice a sex life.

>Perhaps you can be more specific. I don't know what you mean by "aroused".
By arousal, I mean sexual excitement. For instance if I try to masturbate, my fantasies will not result in sensation in my penis. Furthermore, it is difficult to get an erection and keep it.
>Is your libido high but not being translated to sexual excitement (arousal)?
Yes!
>It is as if a circuit connecting your eyes to your genitals has been severed.
Not only that, but my genitals do not receive the signals generated in my own mind.

Obvious questions:1. Did this ever happen to you before you began medical treatment?
2. What are all of the medications that you are currently taking?
3. Did sexual dysfunction appear in association with a medication change?
4. Any herbs or supplements?
What are your thoughts on all of this?

I have this with SSRIs, but not with SNRIs.
Have you ever found something to help with achieving orgasm?

What really? I'm taking small doses PRN for panic am I at risk?
BTW stims helped with an libido and anorgasmia, which is part of the reason I ended up abusing cocaine and later, meth.
This is the end of the thread.
