Update: ADHD reassessment and referall

Posted by zonked on May 9, 2016, at 19:29:53

So,

I had a great visit with my addiction psychiatrist today. She said her clinic *won't let* her prescribe my Ambien or Focalin XR, but referred me to general psychiatry in my area (I moved in April). I have to take the tests for ADHD again, which is no problem. =)

In the meantime my primary will continue my Ambien.

keep in mind they may use Provigil, my addiction doctor put me on Nuvigil after i explained her throughly that i was taken off amphetamines, she used nuvigil

if you can find another doctor that will help you and continue focalin xr go that route....

what i've heard provigil is more intense than nuvigil, because nuvigil is only one isomer.....but it's a good med to wake you up in the mornings and get going, not alot dopamine release associated with ampheatmines, just more awake and ready to do things

Will your new pdoc prescribe Focalin XR with Nardil? Be careful with that!

I had no problem mixing Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) with MAOIs. I found it somewhat energizing. I also found the amphetamines to be safe with MAOIs. I don't think either class of stimulant has been reported to produce a fatal reaction in combination with a MAOI. I couldn't find any reports on Medline/Pubmed.
