I've seen lots of posts on here about augmenting an MAOI with a small dose of Adderall or some other amphetamine. I'm asking about the opposite situation. Taking a full dose of the amphetamine and augmenting it with a sub-clinical dose of the MAOI.
Years ago after I had tried maybe 10 different anti-depressants without much luck, I decided to take the plunge and try an MAOI. I tried Parnate, and was very satisfied with the results. I ended up at a dosage of 30 to 40 mg per day to get the best level of relief. The relief it gave me from depression was substantially greater that I had gotten from any other antidepressant.
After several years I was unable to obtain Parnate, so I had no choice but to discontinue it. A few years later I tried some Moclobemide but I never noticed any results from it.
I have not had any luck in getting a doctor to prescribe Parnate for me now. About a year ago I got a doctor to prescribe Adderall XR 30mg for me for ADD. As far as I can tell, the Adderall is neutral concerning depression. It neither helps nor hurts the level of depression. Recently, I've been wondering about Moclobemide again. I know that taking an MAOI, even a RIMA, in combination with an amphetamine has to be approached with the utmost care.
I wonder about adding a "safe" amount of Moclobemide to a daily dosage of Adderall. "Safe" in this case meaning having almost no chance of a hypertensive crisis, or other severe reaction. I understand that a RIMA has less chance of a hypertensive crisis, but I'm not sure about the "other severe reaction" cagegory.
I believe the effective dose of Moclobemide is 300 to 600 mg / day. I was wondering what the effects would be to take 30 mg Adderall daily and add something along the lines of 50 mg of Moclobemide twice per day. Do you think that there would be any noticeable effect at that dosage level. Is it possible that the combination could give some relief from depression that the Moclobemide alone could not give.
What thoughts does anyone have about this. Would it be safe? Would it have any chance at all of being effective. Is there anything else that could be thrown into the mix to make it more likely to work?

I don't think I have specific answers to your questions, but I've taken emsam and adderall together. My doc was very reluctant, but we both did some research and it looked ok. I checked my blood pressure every couple hours and had nifedipine in case something went south. I started 2.5mg QD and increased every 7 days. I got up to 7.5 or 10mg, can't remember.
Not sure if you're in the US or not and where you're sourcing your moclobemide. The canadian pharmacies that still sell to the US are all super dodgy (all seem to trace back to a front company in england). A few years ago I got moclo from canada - one batch I got, 100mg seemed like it did something. The 2nd batch I got, 150mg seemed like it was completely inert.
