Hi everyone,
Much to my amazement I've actually noticed a marked improvement from low dose Pregnenolone. I tried it before via the oral administration route, and never noticed a thing.
This time (gentlemen please cover your eyes), I decided to try it intravaginally. This because of the permeable mucosa taking it straight to the blood stream and thus surpassing the 'first pass system'.
My regiment is Dhea 5 mg / Pregnenolone 10 mg. Helps for libido purposes too - only downside is weight gain but that could be due to me still taking 50 mg Quetiapine (Seroquel) which utilizes the same CYP 450 enzyme system (overload ???). So I'm trying to titrate the Quetiapine down.
Benefits after 6 weeks:
- improved sleep (sounder, longer)
- happier mood
- less anxiety
- improved social interaction
- feel more involved in general (also more interested in television, news, etc.).
- normalized my ultra short menstrual cycle to a normal duration of approx. 30 days. (FYI: I'm a 47 year old female).Downsides:
- munchies?
- slight weight gain.I'll update later when I've been on 25 mg Quetiapine for a few weeks.
Cheers,
Maria

Hey that's great! It's wonderful to find something that 'works'.
May I ask how you came to be prescribed this?
Thanks and good news!

Maria,
It's really good to hear that you're experiencing some long-term benefits from the treatment regimen that you're using to combat depression and anxiety. I most certainly hope that you'll continue to find your regimen beneficial.

Hi Horse,
Maybe it's important to mention I insert this dose at night, about 30 mins before sleep.
Well I didn't actually 'know' it would aid depression/anxiety. I was looking for an alternative to Livial (Tibolone) which is used primarily by post-menopausal women against hot flashes and/or to enhance libido. But Livial gives me horrendous weight gain.
I choose the intervaginal route so that I could keep the dose low (less breakdown by liver) AND to target genital tissues directly. The permeable mucosa will absorb it quickly & deliver it into the bloodstream too - proving even this route will pass the blood brain barrier! (who would have thought?!).
To my surprise, I noticed the mood uplifting & sleep enhancing effect from the onset.
So I did a little research and discovered studies dating back to the 1940's about Pregnenolone's stress combating effect and it being beneficial in schizophrenics. But mainstream psychiatry has ignored this???
Last night I slept for 10 hours straight (!) on just half dose Quetiapine (25mg) and Dhea 5mg / Pregnenolone 10 mg. So far so good 
Kind regards,
Maria

I don't know.
How safe can it be to take Quetiapine (Seroquel) for 10-plus years???At least Pregnenolone & Dhea are natural substances, whereas Quetiapine is synthetic.

Maria, I did a little googling last night...and once again I cannot believe how little help I was offered during peri and post menopause! Anyways, I found drops and sublinguals...are you using a sublingual?
I'm glad you're experiencing such wonderful results...and thank you for posting your experience. May it continue for you :-)

It´s been 5 days ago since I cut the 50 mg dose of quetiapine (Seroquel) in half. Effects so far:
1) rapid decrease in appetite (or normalizing it? Not sure as I've been on quetiapine for approx 8 years)
2) less constipation
3) shorter & restless sleep with weird scary dreams
4) noise is more bothersome (traffic, loud music, etc.)
5) on day 5 felt increase in emotional sensitivity (not good)So now I wonder, should I increase the Pregnenolone to counter the negative effects? Or the Dhea? Or both?
Any advice is welcome!

It seems so pointless this whole meds game.
Am i the only one to see that??
Maybe in the future, meds will be different, but right now?
I only miss the socializing on dr-bob.org

Hi Lamdage,
Well pointless, yes & no.
Plenty of meds are actually effective but the side effects often diminish the full scale benefits. And also, they don't solve life problems. So we wait for medications/treatments that can cure social inabilities. How about a medication that would instill charisma in a person, wouldn't that be great? The future might hold it in it's folds...
I'm not sure what you mean by socializing on Dr. Bob? You mean a full swing party with beer / wine and a bbq ??? :) :) :) That would be awesome!
