I know I'm on here a lot lately.
My question is, if taking Geodon helps with depression, but makes me hyper & easily agitated, does it really make sense to have to take another med (Trileptal) to counter it?
Is this just the nature of the illness?
Main issue is irritability, anxiety, slight depression. But I have felt in the past that ADs and even Geodon have induced hypomania & sometimes irritability..
Maybe being a little miserable is better than walking around drugged up all the time?
I don't know anymore.

After a few days of severe irritability, I just couldn't do that to my husband anymore.
Geodon (20mg) at night just caused severe agitation during the day. I ended up having to take daytime Klonopin & Trileptal to calm down. Then both Geodon. & Trileptal effect my vision, so I had to wear glasses too! Really crappy experience.
I'm still missing the calm, happy feeling I got from an antidepressant, most recently Viibryrd, but I couldn't take the increase in appetite & sexual problems.
I got great sleep last night with 2mg Klonopin & 3mg melatonin.
I always have the option of trying 150mg of Effexor, but am afraid.
Or I could go back to a higher dose of Geodon.
Or I could go back to Buspar.
I have depression, anxiety and irritability. You'd think it would be simple to deal with.
This sucks.

When I used perphenazine in year 1994, I got unbearable akathisia. The psychiatric hospital pushed me to take it for three months, and I didn't get relief one single second when taking perphenazine. Four years later, I got a apology from the hospital, after fighting for it via the media. Akathisia is a common side effect of that drug.

Agitated depression is the worst. And add in anxiety, i'm so sorry :(
Just in case you haven't tried it, Celexa is a good med for anxiety.
Hmm...sounds like your reaction to Geodon is different this time. Did you have any agitation from it last time? Were you already on trileptal?

Its very dumb to treat the side effects of one drug with another drug.
Just go up on the Geodon.
