Hi, everyone,
Moishe Pipik suggested that Babble link to an external reliable glossary of psych meds, and I think that's a nice idea. He suggested:
Mental Health Medications, from the NIMH
http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/mental-health-medicationsList of psychiatric medications by condition treated, from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_psychiatric_medications_by_condition_treatedWhat if we have a vote? That way the selections would reflect the opinions of more posters. We could consider the above Moishe's vote. Would anybody else like to vote?

I like wikipedia. Its a rundown of all meds and it is linked to a much bigger world of info on psychiatric meds. So that those who search around on it can get a better idea of what meds are out there and what to expect from them.
The other article is too basic.

Just to be clear, other posters can vote for other external reliable glossaries, too.

NIMH has my vote. It's the most authoritative source.

Whitehouse.gov has the most authority when it comes to getting information directly from its source. Does that mean it should be relied on? No.
There is information in the NIMH article that isn't quite accurate. As well as a wealth on information that should be viewed when coming to a decision on how someone may want
To approach their mental health treatment. The Wikipedia article is easy go navigate, offers more useful info and has links to the original articles. This information is at least as accurate as the NIMH article, but fers more knowledge that help quell the rampant naive ideas that the public has about the mental health system and the medications it offers.
But, I suppose the most votes shall win.

Personally my all time Fav site (that i still use btw) is Scotts webpage
http://www.slschofield.com/medicine/psychiatric_drugs_chart.html
personally i love Scotts because:
i can look up by Generic OR Name brand
lists how its typically used
the ave dosages
the half-life (which is tricky to get)
and my fav it lists the properties. what hormones it typically acts on.
i find it very informative and helpful in seeing what works in me and finding similar agents. However, i do notice that it doesn't have more recent meds. (hint hint LOL)
**********
i also like using PubChem to find out good info, like the mechanism of action etc.***********
from the two listed i think i like the Wiki best. mostly for user friendly-ness.
