Seriously do you feel antidepressants are safe? Seems so many both success when off them and having to keep adding meds if stay on them. What's up with this? Phillipa

I agree with the thoughts in Tensors article. Natural isn't always safe. In the past Yohimbine had a very bad effect on me.
But also, much of society needs to get out of the mindset that antidepressants can have no long lasting bad effects on someones brain. Because of this mindset many are called delusional by their doctors when talking about a med effecting them longterm.

Regarding safety, I nearly died twice when I attempted suicide while off medication.
Seriously, do you feel like someone NOT taking an antidepressant who is in a major depressive episode and contemplating suicide is safe?
Regarding "success" ... yes, Parnate is successful for me and remarkably so; it's the side effect profile that requires additional medication. The whole point of the other medication I take is so that I can remain on Parnate.
I also take Klonopin for night terrors regarding my father's death (I have post-traumatic grief or complicated grief) and that's the one medication that I hope, with therapy, to be able to stop taking one day. I do not like the idea of being dependent on a benzodiazepine, personally, but I also don't like the idea of waking up screaming for my father and reliving his death in such vivid detail it feels like it's happening all over again.
I think you're confusing safety with efficacy, IMHO.

Would prazosin be of any help? I take it in combination with Parnate, and have no issues with respect to hypotension. Prazosin is effective for treating several aspects of PTSD including nightmares, disturbed sleep, anxiety, and depression.

Taking a survey. Good thing about botulism it's used as botox for lines and wrinkles also has other uses. I don't and never have trusted herbs. Phillipa

No one on here ever talks about seeing a therapist being good for depression.

What kind of depression?

I'm not so sure a therapist could help much when there is an organic problem in your brain.
I saw a therapist when I first started meds in the past and it helped really well in conjuction with the meds. And I plan on seeing one again soon, thoug my problems are much bigger now.

And many times the therapist is better than meds. If it's situational depression or anxiety. Phillipa

>I'm seeing a therapist for life issues. But this is a medication board, not a therapy board, hence the emphasis on medication.
When I am in a depressive episode, therapy is not possible. I do not shower for weeks, stay in bed for days at a time, can't even concentrate enough to read a book.
In order to do therapy - which, I agree is very important - I need to be on medication.

>Sure they do. They do it on the therapy board. This is the medication board. Lots of people have both meds and a therapist.
