Lexapro or Luvox So confused Which Is better ?

Posted by Phillipa on March 14, 2013, at 12:16:42

Hi all seems a lot of mixed messages and confusion of luvox and since been on low dose for all those years also have the lexapro. So which would you take and why? I am going back and forth daily with what amount of each to take and I know it's not good for my brain. Or my hope or mental attitude. Thanks Phillipa

CALL YOUR DR. AND ASK HIM STRAIGHT OUT...WHY IS SELDOM USED...DOES IT HAVE THE MOST DRUG DRUG INTERACTIONS....IS IT CONSIDERED DANGEROUS AND WHY DOES HE HAVE YOU STILL ON IT

Phillipa - this is your decision. You need to decide which medication works better for *you*. I have taken both medications and I think they are both decent. Luvox worked better for me, but lexapro works better for others. There is no "better" - it is based on which one works for you.

You won't find this answer externally, you can only find it internally.

Link I know. I also trust your judgement. You say you took both. How high were your doseages? I tend to favor the luvox. From the start it wasn't the same as the others for me. Thanks Phillipa

Joe doc is a dim wit. But he also says helps more with OCD & ruminating thoughts. I always liked it once a doc took me off increased benzos so high and for two weeks didn't sleep. The ER said go back on the luvox consulted with psych hospital uptown here and they said the same. I did and slept again. Phillipa

Since two other of my neighbors on medicaire and one with private insurance both see this same doc. It seems he's the only one that insurances will pay for in all of Charlotte. Hard to believe but true. One takes wellbutrin and xanax, the other not sure. But all of us go to him for meds only. One asked him what he does and he said prescribe meds. Sad state the world is in. At least here. Acturally I just learned this about the neighbors. And I actually think the luvox is better for me. Phillipa

I would stick with the one you are most comfortable with, probably the one taking now, and add rhodiola rosea to it. It's tricky dosing at first so let me know if there are any questions or problems on that. There is a distinct chance you might feel significantly better in multiple ways including depression. Once in a while this one doesn't work out , and there are two other excellent ones to choose from if needed. I am not confident a switch from luvox to lex or whatever is going to make much difference this late in the game. Rhodiola added to either of them is an excellent approach in my opinion with higher than usual odds of success.

I 've tried all the brands. We all respond differently, but I found two brands to be significantly more "depression active" than the others....did the same good stuff as all brands, but seemed to have a little extra something that specifically improved mood better than the other.

I think you stand a good chance of feeling better than you have in a long time, all around, not just the head. But if we were to shift our focus to choosing other meds instead, then I loose that confidence. Lots of confidence in rhodiola and its cousins.

I'm thinking of trying rhodiola rosea, is it safe to combine with antidepressants?
