Heard about this today on radio. Never knew there were musical hallucinations. Seems that some loss of hearing can cause this among quite a few other disorders. Phillipa

I get great ideas for new songs from my musical hallucinations. I hear music in my head sometimes, especially when there is a distant background noise that I can't quite make out. Without any other bad symptoms going along with it, I don't view this as a problem. It's an asset actually. I believe all passionate artists and musicians who are on the creative side of things have some sort of similar experience. They can see, hear, and envision things, that aren't there, and that other people can't see or hear. I do not see that as a pathology, but rather, a gift.
If the music in the head comes with a bunch of other horrible symptoms, then yeah there is a problem to deal with.

I have had mild auditory hallucinations for years. Maybe it originates from being a drummer for 42 years. I tend not to think so.
What I hear almost every night is a radio stations. Songs that I can't quite make out, an announcers voice talking continuously and static between stations.
I just told my psychiatrist a few months ago and said I had not brought it up because they aren't threatening voices.
It sounds like it's coming from about 20' away but a few nights ago it was right behind me. It's odd, that's about it.
This is the end of the thread.
