I am curious how many go to bed early and wake up early vs being a night owl and getting up late. Does it seem to make a difference. As I know so many early birds and seems they are the ones with the least problems in real life in reguards to emotional health? Phillipa

How about going to bed late and getting up early? My insomnia exacerbates my depression. My dad's emotional health was excellent, and so was his sleep. He'd go to bed early and get up early. He got at least eight hours virtually every night of his life. I wish I'd inherited his emotional health, and his sleep.

I go to bed late and wake up early. I get around 5-7 hours (at most) of sleep. I'm usually awake by 5 am which is when I take my medications. Today was unusual as I didn't wake up until 9:30.

I go to bed late and wake up after every REM cycle like clockwork. Whether I get up or force myself to go back to sleep makes no difference in my mood or energy levels.

P,we go upstairs at 9pm,I read, hubby watches tv.We go to sleep around 9:30 or 10. He gets up at 5,with no alarm clock. I get up anywhere btw 5:30-7:00. Even on vacation.Every once in a while, we are up at 4,drinking our coffee! When we were dating, and much younger,we were going thru the Taco Bell drivethru at 4am,after a night of drinking & dancing! I now hate to sleep in,it makes me feel as if Ive missed something, and I rarely am out past dark!

I'm generally in bed by 10 and up between 5 and 7, depending on my work schedule. On Fridays, I will stay up til 12 or 1, but then sleep until 11 or 12 on Saturday. I feel so rested. Then Saturday night, I'll wake up on just 4 or 5 hours sleep, feel a little disoriented and tired all day, then go back to my normal routine. I can get by on 7 hours but prefer 8 or 9. Then once a week, 11 or 12 hours, which feels great.

Seriously getting up in the dark is depressing to me. Let the sun be shining first before arising. Phillipa

The s - u - n ??
Hmmm....oh, wait, you mean that weird orangy thing in the sky that appears and lights up the wet, puddly, rain-soaked, waterlogged, muddy, messy outdoors? Like for 5-10 minutes one day, then again 5 days later??
THAT sun?? ha! imagine if we here waited for that silly thing to come out before we got up?!! We could sleep for days!!
lol....some bad humor from the beautifully green Pacific Northwest

My sleep is all over the place. Some times 4 hours, some times 12. Since I start work at 5-6pm and get off at 9pm-3am I don't see much sun. I'm usualy up till 7am and as late ar 1pm. Just depends on what my body feels like. Some times my meds put me to sleep early or late. Or if I'm more tired because of less sleep the day before. And the sucky thing is if I have to do anything during the day, like doc appt or what every has to be done during working hours. The time that I'm usualy sleeping. So that also affects how much sleep I get. I think if I were on any less meds, like the realy low dose of perphenazine I was on for a week, I didn't get any sleep. Alcohol helps me sleep too. So thats anouther factor.

No, you have to work when business happens. So if its realy busy you work longer. Atleast one thing is good I start work at a fairly regular time, usualy 5 or 6pm.
