just wanted to thank you Jono for your advice. i've crashed again and am now willing to admit I need professional help. i go tomorrow for my assessment. i am hoping for an outpt. program b/c i would literally rather die than go inpt. again. but i'm not at all suicidal so it should not be a problem.
you were right as well that I would probably have to nix the trip to see my family. which I am going to do. I just can't handle anything anymore. thank the stars they were utterly understanding and caring, and just want me to get help and feel better.
your advice was really appreciated...as usual you nailed it, and now that i'm not stubborn i completely agree with you.

Kat you did cancel the trip? So the Nardil isn't cutting it? Hoping also for outpatient tx. Shouldn't be a problem if not suicidal. I'm quite surprised. Phillipa

I'm sorry to hear this, although this course of action is probably more reasonable than the trip. Just try to remember that you didn't choose the hospital, but the hospital chose you. There's no need for any guilt.
Anyway, what's involved when going to a hospital as opposed to a pdoc visit? What do they do, exactly?

kat you have hit the bottom , it takes that to start your way back up, hovering just above the bottom you hang on like a wounded animal, then it happen,s bang you hit the bottom .Now you start swimming for the surface. like divers you dont come up to fast or they get the bends, remmision is slow ,to fast and you crash an burn. Today you start a new life , no more scrapping the bottom you start to surface.

Thanks so much Never. I know you are completely correct. And I love the examples you use because they feel so true. I am so scared to go to the hospital, but I know it is what I need to do. Thanks again for the support. you, and everyone here, are so kind.

Thank you to everyone for your encouragement and support. I'm sorry I did not respond to each of you individually, I have just been such a mess. But I did read all your posts and they touched my heart and made me cry even more. But this time it was a happy cry b/c I had found out how much people here care.
I now go to prepare for my hospital assessment. I am scared. But I'm determined to do it.
Thanks so much again,
Kat

kat, look on the bright side...your not going to a state hospital with the monster doctors there. Usally community hospitals are nice, and considerate, by this time you would have already been, don't let them push you around, give facts and eleborate.
Good luck....i hope you can read this by the time your back.

Good luck Kat. I just responded to your previous post for help (where you mention being stressed over your family trip).
I suggested an unconventional med approach which just brought me back from a very bleak place. Perhaps it could help, or, at the very least, point you in a different direction.
If you want to chat privately, message me. Stay strong and take good care of yourself. You've got only one way to go from here, and that's up.

Participate in your treatment plan.
Establish the goal of hospitalization and your condition at the time of discharge.
Good luck.

Hi Kat - Meant to reply to this sooner, but my computer died, got a new one, needed to sign in again but forgot my password and the email to which my old password was sent no longer works. So I have had to re-register under a new name -- formerly emmanuel98.
Anyway, good luck with your program. I have done partial hospitalization programs a few times. I found them very helpful. They get you out of the house, for one thing. They have groups all day long and the focus tends to be on developing practical coping skills.
They usually will not change your meds. You meet with a psychiatrist only briefly and if s/he thinks a med change is appropriate, they will probably contact your current p-doc to discuss it. But the therapy component should be very helpful in getting you through a rough period.
Good luck.

Hi Phillipa, I am feeling a little better today, for 2 reasons:
1. I've only had one session at the OP hospital program, but so far I am very encouraged. Patients are nice, nurses are nice, other clinicians are nice, staff is nice, and so far I *really* like the pdoc they assigned me to
2. I was sinking earlier today and I was so afraid I would fall back into the abyss, I was a bad girl and took some extra Ritalin. Bad Kat!!!!!!!
Thanks for asking though Phillipa....and how are you doing today?
