I've been on MAOIs for years and so I have always needed a med to help with insomnia. I've tried Lunesta, Trazadone, and now Ambien.
I feel like my memory is getting worse and am concerned it could be the Ambien.
What sleep meds have the lowest risk of memory problems?

Funny taken lunesta with benzos but never the ambien. I'd try a low dose of benzos. Phillipa

Temazepam 15mg 1 hour before bedtime, perhaps with diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 25mg as a booster

I've taken 2 mg of Xanax for a few years for sleep and it's worked like a charm. No memory loss--well, that I can remember, anyway:)

> Clonidine
Can produce depression.
> Gabitril
Can produce agitation.
I'm sure these drugs work for some people, but it is important to be aware of their potential to produce these untoward reactions.
I took Klonopin and Ativan for three years for insomnia and bipolar disorder. These drugs never lost their efficacy. I didn't notice a worsening of memory.
I found Klonopin to be more difficult to discontinue than Ativan.
