Well, I think 3mg of Ativan is stronger than 1mg Xanax. You could be having some withdrawal from the Ativan?

Most equivalency charts indicate that 3.0 mg of Ativan is equal to 1.5 mg of Xanax.

Yes, but you are taking less Xanax than what would be equivalent to the Ativan you were taking. You are probably experiencing withdrawal effects. They should pass, though. Even if you were to take 1.5 mg of Xanax, you might still experience a period of adjustment with withdrawal-like symptoms. If you remain unhappy with what you are experiencing, you should probably contact your doctor.

You have suddenly cut your dose in about half, so are getting some withdrawel symptoms, you need to increase the alprazolam for a while (say 1mg twice a day for a week, then 0.5mg three times a day for a week, then 0.5mg twice a day)
Speak to your doctor.
Best of luck

Seriously don't write it off. Give your doc a call and let him/her know what's up. Some don't or their brains don't like to immediately switch from one to another. And since it has a short half life personally I'd say three times a day and increase to lmg at bedtime for sleep. Phillipa
