My pdoc is having me switch to viibryd to see if that will work as pristiq did nothing for me. He's having me taper pristiq to 50 mg. for one week (I currently take 100 mg.) and then start right on on the viibryd. I'm a little concerned about withdrawals but he said it shouldn't be an issue because I'm going straight to another medication. Anyone else have similar experience?

Sounds like a good plan. Wouldn't imagine any withdrawals as I've in the past switched from one to another not the same meds but SSRI's or SNRI's. Good luck Phillipa

Hi JG,
If you do feel withdrawals, you'll know fairly quickly I imagine. Would you feel better if you had a plan with your doc in case?

I suppose I can call my pdoc if I experience any withdrawals and we can come up with a plan. But I do remember that I switched from lexapro to pristiq with no problem so hopefully this will be a similar experience.

I've been titrating between SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs and other antidepressants for about 4 years now. Going from one AD to another indeed lessens withdrawal effects. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
I take Viibryd myself. I've been very happy with it.

Eric,
Thanks for your message. It made me feel a little less anxious about the switchover. Can you tell me how long you've been on Viibryd and at what dose?

I've been on Viibryd now for 2 months at 40 milligrams. It has enhanced my mood and treated my OCD as well as Clomipramine has.

No, Viibryd is a 5HT1a partial agonist- a neurotransmitter that helps with depression and anxiety.
