Astra will be crying tears of blood tonight, thats a lot of money they wont be making a month from now.
When other generics hit the shelves, it will become dirt cheap..... Omrprazole used to be hellishly expensive, now they sell supermarket generics of it..... these awfuly expensive atypicals will be just the same

It is criminal what pharmaceutical companies charge the American public for their newest products. The people who are in most need of psychiatric drugs are also the ones who are least able to afford them. Of course, this helps insure that people remain ill.

I have often wondered 9well, not often, but i have wondered) wether the sudden dropping of Melleril as a cardiotixic drug after 50 years of use was all part of a plan to push the newer atypicals.... because, looking at it, melleril it self was quite atypical, and it cost about 10 dollars a month

Olanzapine was launched as a generic in the UK relatively recently. Wholesale prices into pharmacy are already low.
For example, November 2011 prices at the DE pharmaceuticals group (a generics wholesaler based in the North of England)...
Olanzapine 2.5mg tablets (pack of 28 tabs)- £0.55
Olanzapine 5mg tabs - £1.09
Olanzapine 10mg tabs - £2.20Manufacturers selling generic olanzapine include TEVA, Actavis, Sandoz, Mylan/GUK and Consilient Health.
